In 2017, the cost of housing in Spain increased by 6.2%

For four years already in Spain there has been a rise in prices for residential real estate. So, in 2017 housing increased in price by 6.2%, and the most noticeable growth was demonstrated, according to the National Statistical Institute, by the secondary market (6.3%). The fourth quarter of 2017 was marked by an increase of 7.2% compared to the average annual rate, which is the highest result since 2007.

Prices for new buildings last year increased by an average of 5.9%. In this category, increases are observed for four years, but the most significant growth (6.5%) was recorded in 2016.

In the secondary market last year, housing increased by 6.3%, and the maximum rate (8.2%) in this segment was achieved in 2007.

With regard to the distribution of prices by region, the most notable growth last year was recorded in Rioja, Asturias and the Canary Islands.
