Cabildo launches new campaign to protect Los Gigantes cliffs

Tenerife Cabildo has designed a campaign to raise awareness about the care and environmental preservation of Los Gigantes Cliffs, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. Vice-president and en-vironment adviser, José Antonio Valbuena said the campaign arose from the initiative of the body of environmental agents and aims to encourage responsible behaviour in the development of the tourist activities, recreational and sport in this zone coastal.”

Step further for swimming centre

Tenerife Cabildo has approved a collaboration agreement with Puerto de la Cruz for the construction of a new swimming centre. The works represent an investment of approximately 11.6 million euros, which will be borne entirely by the island corporation and have an execution period of 20 months. The decision was adopted at a recent meeting of the Government Council.

New camping site for La Palma

La Palma’s Cabildo has approved a project to create a caravan campsite in the Laguna de Barlovento and there could be more to come. It will be developed on a plot adjacent to the recreational park. The project will go out to tender shortly with a budget of 2,967,491 euros included in the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN). The approved document states that this new area will include a sanitary-health services building with independent modules, a laundry area and sinks and fire area, laundry space, a service building with a bar-cafeteria and a small reception building.

Hospiten Group backs 2018 Tenerife Bluetrail

The Hospiten Group has renewed its commitment to the Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail, a competition that will take place on June 9th and features the 102-kilometre ultra route which goes through Teide National Park. The president of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, said that “the values of the Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail and the Hospiten Group are aligned with the sport of experiences and commitment to people. We are working to promote, under the umbrella of sports and healthy living, values such as respect for the environment, emotion, passion, challenge and teamwork.”

Puerto aims to improve tourist services

More than 30 companies from Puerto de la Cruz have joined together to provide better service and quality to local people and visitors alike. The 2018 “Programme of Impulse of Quality” is an initiative from the Urban Development Consortium which aims to improve the image of tourist services in the municipality.
