Puerto hosts Gastromusic Tenerife with free plaza party

The Plaza de Europa in Puerto de la Cruz will host for the second consecutive year, and after the success of the first edition, the celebration of Gastromusic Tenerife, the gastronomic event that in 2017 united the seven islands showing the best of each of them. This year, as a novelty, the director of Sabores del Norte and organiser of the event, Lis Peña, has designed a com-plete programme of two days full of proposals related to gastronomy and music on Friday and Saturday, April 27th and 28th.

Plaza to be remodelled for first time in 30 years

Remodelling and refurbishment work has started on the plaza of Tamaimo in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. The work has an execution period of eight weeks (56 days) and is aimed at changing the image of the area and making it more accessible and functional. “The main objective is to rejuvenate the appearance of the almost 1,580 square metres of its surface and solve defects of the current square in terms of accessibility and functionality, giving it an aesthetic look more in line with its natural environment with the design and quality of the materials and urban furniture which it deserves,” said a council spokesman.

Facelift for green areas in Silencio and Las Galletas

Green areas in Costa del Silencio and Las Galletas are to get a facelift from Arona council. The works will affect the access to the park of La Garañaña from avenida José Antonio Tavío and avenida Príncipe Felipe in Las Galletas.

Book fair and concerts in San Juan de la Rambla

San Juan de la Rambla has become book crazy during April as it celebrate the wonders of reading. Various activities are being held, including a number of concerts which demonstrate the link between music and the written word. The events are being co-ordinated by the local council which wants to encourage young people to read as much as they can. April was therefore dedicated “Mes de las Letras” (“Month of the Letters”) and coincides with the celebration on April 23rd of International Book Day.

Tourism towns need particular financial considerations

The eight member boroughs together represent only 0.92% of the Spanish population, but received 13.52% of visitors to the country, 11,059, 430 last year.  They have an average occupation rate of   over 82% and employ over 86,000 people in the sector.  Spain is currently registering as the second best tourism market in the world.
